Service Description

Adrian will share his journey from Cherry Creek Schools to a fascinating and multifaceted career and life. He served as special assistant to Bill Clinton on his initiative for One America and was a senior policy analyst for Colorado Governor Bill Ritter. Currently, he serves as the Executive Director of the Colorado Council of Churches and is the lead curator of the "Proclaiming Colorado's Black History" exhibit at the Museum of Boulder. He has twice won the James Beard award for food writing and is a certified barbecue judge. He will share these varied passions and endeavors and will leave time to dialogue with participants. His books will be available for purchase: "Soul Food: The Surprising Story of an American Cuisine" "The President's Kitchen Cabinet: The Story of African Americans Who Have Fed our First Families" "Black Smoke: African Americans and the United States of Barbecue" Adrian's presentation is the first in our annual Founder's Lecture Series, named to recognize Jim Brickey who founded RECCS University in 2017. He continues to serve on the planning team.
