Service Description

Today's Barbie doll is a far cry from the original in 1959. These two sessions will cover her fascinating history through 1974. Vintage dolls, designer clothing and accessories will be on display and available for close inspection. In addition, participants may bring an heirloom from their own collection to share during the second session. As time allows, The presenter will also address the process of buying and selling Barbie on eBay (e.g. photography, logistics, packaging and shipping). Both sessions will be at Koelbel Library in the Forum Theater. Susan Brickey had never owned a Barbie doll until after she retired from teaching in CCSD. She discovered an old case stuffed with Barbie clothes in a thrift store 11 years ago. Always curious about selling on eBay, she listed them online and was surprised at the prices they commanded. Thus began her business of buying and selling on eBay. In the process, she has become an expert and sometimes collector of vintage Barbie dolls.
