Service Description

Participants will gain a basic understanding of effective “memory” and “happiness" strategies outlined in her book, The Ten Things: A Guide to Your Brain. This class earned rave reviews in February. She will repeat many of last winter’s strategies. You may attend for the first time, or you’re welcome to return. Memory & the Brain Your habits build your memory, like a credit score. I love to see clients increase their memory number! Your habits are the behaviors dictating working memory — perhaps 50-70% of our intelligence. You’ll get the three most powerful strategies for learning, and, ironically, less effort is required in using them. How do you talk about your memory? Do you think it’s good or terrible? Which fruits and vegetables do you eat daily? How many hours of sleep? No need to fear neurodegenerative disorders; daily habits will protect you. Evidence shows even a few changes improve recall, and allow you to remember “why you entered the room.” Happiness & the Brain What if we could train ourselves to be happy? Would you do it? Happy people are more productive, healthy and active. They save more money and have significantly more joy in relationships. Forty years of research on positivity has revealed a path no longer reserved for the lucky. No matter what life event or personality trait, daily actions can take us from ordinary & despair to a state of happiness. Kim Bevill is a highly respected keynote speaker, staff developer, and owner of Grey Matters. She taught History and IB Psychology at Littleton High School for 14 years. She recently authored the book, The Ten Things: A Guide To Your Brain. Participants in her workshops consistently report feeling renewed passion, purpose, and inspiration.
