Heroes and Monsters in the Ancient World

The Heroic Age of Greece, a time of great adventure and turmoil, produced the greatest heroes of legend like Perseus, Hercules, Jason, Theseus, and Odysseus. As part of their journey to hero status, they battled multiple mythic monsters. These monsters represented human's inner fears, or personified the dangers of unknown places. Let's examine if a hero can truly be a hero with a monster to overcome.
