Service Description
This talk will explain Ukraine’s unique history and how Russia’s war has brought its citizens together. After more than a full year since Russia’s invasion, Ukraine stands strong. How can we understand Ukrainians’ desire to fight for their country? What makes Ukraine distinct from Russia, and why does Russia claim otherwise? Zoom link will be emailed to registered participants. Presenter Emily Channell-Justice is the Director of the Temerty Contemporary Ukraine Program a Harvard University. She is a sociocultural anthropologist who has been doing research in Ukraine since 2012. Her recent book, Without the State: Self-Organization and Political Activism in Ukraine, explains how self-organized practices have changed people's views on what they think they can contribute to their own communities. In the wake of Russia's invasion, it has also motivated new networks of mutual aid within Ukraine and beyond.
