Service Description
The situation comedy began in radio format even before the advent of television in the late 1940's, and in this class, we'll trace the history of the sitcom from its inception to its current form. Through the viewing of clips guaranteed to make you laugh, participants will learn how this time-honored television format began, evolved, and its current state on the television landscape. The class will also explore what a typical production week on a sitcom involves, from the Monday morning table read with the cast, writers, and director, to the final show taping on Friday night, including lots of behind-the-scenes anecdotes about working in the crazy world of television comedy. The class was offered in October of 2024 and is being offered again by popular demand. Forum Theater at Koelbel Library, 5955 South Holly Street, Centennial, 80121. Seating is limited to 39. Don Hart is a retired CCSD Language Arts teacher and former television situation comedy writer.
