Service Description

Watercolor is a beguiling and exciting medium with a character all its own. Even if you've never handled a brush before, you'll enjoy exploring watercolor's idiosyncrasies while learning how to deal confidently with washes, glazes, and color mixing. Bring your brushes, paints and other supplies to participate in "studio days" as we paint and explore watercolor potentials. Pamper yourself with three half days of individual creativity as you experiment with a new media, start a new painting, or continue working on one. Open to all levels of experience. Beginners will explore specific exercises creating a variety of results and develop personal paintings. Experienced artists may work on individual projects and also explore techniques that may solve your dilemmas. Each class will include one or two short demonstrations. These might include: - Color triad and their potential - what happens when you layer colors - Negative space creation - 2 and 3-point perspective Sharon Rouse started her career as a volunteer parent at Homestead Elementary School, then taught art at Graland for 17 years, and retired 18 years ago to supervise art student teachers for 5 ½ years. For several years she has taught watercolor classes at The Academy, a non-profit life-long learning organization similar to RECCS U. Her work has been accepted into various shows and displayed in private collections. In addition to both teaching and creating art, she continues as a 42-year docent at the Denver Art Museum. Denver Mayor Michael Hancock recently proclaimed “Sharon Rouse Day” in honor of Sharon’s amazing contributions when she received the Minoru Yasui Volunteer Award. Room number will be sent to you in reminder email.
